How to read the figures on this site

The numbers shown by the estimate tool are hypothetical examples, not a quote, not an offer of insurance, and not a policy illustration.

They are generated by a simplified model on this website using a fixed set of assumptions. A real illustration can only be produced by an insurance carrier's own software, using your actual age, gender, tobacco status, health rating, state, and the specific product you apply for. A licensed agent will provide you with a carrier illustration before you apply, and the carrier illustration always controls.

The estimate tool assumes premiums are paid as shown for the full period, that the policy is not modified, and that no loans or withdrawals are taken except as described. It applies a single assumed index crediting rate that is not guaranteed and will not be achieved every year. It does not reflect your actual underwriting class, which is determined by the carrier after a full application and, in most cases, a review of your medical records, prescription history, driving record, and financial information.

Non-guaranteed values

Indexed universal life insurance has both guaranteed and non-guaranteed elements. Cash value growth, index credits, cost of insurance charges, expense charges, index caps, participation rates, and index spreads are set by the carrier and are subject to change. Only the elements the policy contract expressly guarantees are guaranteed.

Loans, withdrawals, and access to cash value

Cash value accumulates over time and is generally not available in the early policy years. Surrender charges typically apply for the first 10 to 15 years and can reduce or eliminate the amount you receive if you cancel early.

Loans and withdrawals reduce the policy's cash value and death benefit, may increase the risk of lapse, and may have tax consequences. Loan interest accrues. If a policy lapses or is surrendered with an outstanding loan, the gain may become immediately taxable, potentially in an amount that exceeds any cash you receive.

References on this site to tax-advantaged access, supplemental income, or "borrowing from yourself" describe policy loans and withdrawals under current federal tax law, assuming the policy is not a modified endowment contract and remains in force until death. Those conditions are not automatic and must be actively managed.

Tax

AuraBay Life does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or investment advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, or to take any specific tax position. Tax treatment of life insurance depends on your individual circumstances and on federal and state law that can change. Consult your own tax advisor and attorney before acting.

Not a bank or investment product

Life insurance is not a deposit, is not FDIC or NCUA insured, is not guaranteed or endorsed by any bank, credit union, or government agency, and is not a security or an investment in the stock market. Guarantees are backed solely by the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance carrier.

AuraBay Life is not a bank, broker-dealer, or registered investment advisor, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency.

Underwriting and availability

All coverage is subject to application, underwriting, and carrier approval. Submitting a request through this site does not create coverage, does not bind any carrier, and does not guarantee that coverage will be issued or issued at the price shown. Rates and availability vary by age, gender, tobacco use, health, occupation, avocations, driving record, financial situation, and state of residence. Products, riders, and features are not available in all states, and terms vary by state.

Policy loan and withdrawal features, index accounts, riders, and any living benefits described on this site are subject to the terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions of the actual policy contract. Read your policy.

Compensation

AuraBay Life is compensated by the insurance carriers whose products it places, in the form of commissions and, in some cases, bonuses or expense allowances. You do not pay us a separate fee for a quote or a consultation. Compensation varies by carrier and product. You may ask us how we are compensated on any product we recommend, and we will tell you.

Carrier names and third-party marks

Any carrier, index, or company names appearing on this site are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only. Their use does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation. Standard & Poor's, and any other index provider referenced, do not sponsor, endorse, sell, or promote any insurance product, and make no representation about the advisability of purchasing one.

Content on this site and in our advertising is for general education and is not tailored to your individual situation until you speak with a licensed agent. Client examples and figures shown are illustrative composites created for explanation, not testimonials or records of actual clients unless expressly identified as such.
